Ink and Pen already costs Php 500!

Why do arki students always go on Field Trips?

1. To design a restaurant, the professor lets them visit restaurants. Talk to their managers, learn the cooking process, look at existing kitchens. Write down their violations and study if their workflow is effective. Compare it to International Standards and Local Code.

2. Then and only then could they start designing, after all the research.

3. They have to spend their own money.

4. Other students go on resorts and spend pocket money in order to understand the design of existing resorts.

5. Others like me, rely on google and interviews.

You thought this was highschool?

I was the last Dean's Lister (90 average) in Architecture during the past 10 years. The scholarship had greatly helped discount my tuition 30% off. However, only one professor knew it, and the rest treated me like a foreign student with sort of discrimination (thought to be slow in acads and relating to the local culture), not knowing my igorot blood was stronger than korean.

But most of the time, i was invested on public speaking and presentation (animations and click menus in powerpoint), since they handled the drafting better.

I then accelerated til all my classmates were seniors, most are second takers and others decided to take the subject later, because having 2 or more major subjects is too much to handle. When they found out i could handle engineering math well, that was the start of pressure trying not to let them cheat. Sometimes, I'd give my scrap solutions and they'd be disappointed when the answer is wrong.

all in one day.

you already missed everything else.

dad got cancer.

sister is abroad looking after him.

mother is in the province.

your first 74.

prof: "for me, you passed. but your groupmate said you're too busy with the student organization so he gave you 74."

me: "but ma'am, you gave me passing grade. why is a student giving my grade?"

prof: "i have to listen to his opinion. he said you didn't really help."

wt...f....???

turns out, the school gives money to the prof when you retake an exam or pay for INC (incomplete grade).

sarap. accidentally dipped paint in coffee and drank it.

plate was damaged cuz of coffee spill. but we can say 'coffee painting is the concept of this plate render'

no choice. trimester is all about TIME.

no matter how skilled or intelligent you are.

when you put so much effort into something.

turns out, what works in trimester is not effort.

it's DISKARTE. (knowing your professor's style. like cilents)

until finally you see a higher year working on the computer. curious what he was doing, you see drafting in a laptop for thesis.

taking initiative, you befriended with him and he is kind enough to help you attain sketchup 8 in your netbook.

The problem with many generations of arki students is NOT WANTING to APPROACH HIGHER YEARS.

They are the survivors, so they know the professors' styles and how to pass. When in doubt, do not ask your classmates or lower years.

Most especially.. This is when you find out what nobody told you.

2 YEARS APPRENTICESHIP before taking the board exam. usually after graduating.

so arki is 5+2+1 = 7 - 8 years minimum
