The ability to research online for specification, how to videos, and materials, whether global or local, is not a hindrance to learn about material specification and connection details.

It's as early as the 3d modelling where the specification comes. Do not be limited with the Sketchup material library just because of aesthetic. Remember, each material has hardware sizes and each brand comes at different prices.

Yes, site experience will 'force' you to go to the hardware to learn different brands, see first hand about details, but that doesn't mean it is always correct.
